Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: It's ok to have no idea what you want to pursue! And at the end of the day, no matter what university you end up going to, the experience is what you put into it. You can have a great educational experience anywhere, and you never know what doors might open to you while you're there.

Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: If you have the opportunity, venture out of California. Although a lot of my close high school friends stayed and went to UCs , I chose to go to college in Ohio. Originally it wasn't my intention to leave but it was probably the best decision I made for myself. It was hard at first but I learned so much from my time in college. I met people from all different backgrounds and perspectives, crossed off things on my bucket list (most notably: became a bartender), and traveled to many different states and countries (Italy, NOLA, Florida, New York, Washington D.C., Canada etc.). Don't limit yourself.
