Points of advice regarding taking a gap year:  I took a gap year after high school because I wanted to be able to work on personal goals that I would most likely push off during the school year and to improve my mental health. In doing so, I didn't have the added stress of applying to college during my senior year and instead spread out my applications in my gap year. Some notable things I was able to accomplish are volunteering for a political campaign and working on my public speaking skills by joining a Toastmasters Club. Gap years are flexible and invite the opportunity of gap year programs, traveling, volunteering, or simply to take a mental health break. Every person is unique; choose the path that works best for you! :)
