Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: Choosing where you're going to go after high school is undoubtedly an incredibly daunting decision that seniors need to make in just 3 months! But in doing so, I think the most important distinction you need to make are the short-term and long-term effects you're going to experience in wherever you decide on going. Do you think that you'll seem fulfilled with yourself 5, 10 years down the road?

Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: It's completely okay to not know if you want to go to college or not. If you let the competition at AHS get into your head, you might commit to something that's not for you. Look into community college, vocational schools, and the atmospheres and attributes of all colleges rather than giving into the hype of certain bigger schools.

Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: For AHS students applying to college, I would encourage you to reach out to your peers, teachers, and mentors for support! The application process can seem daunting and it's okay to ask for support. As a first generation college student, I had such a hard time asking others for help. But, in college, I realize a lot of people are happy to give some insight to help you in your journey.

Points of advice regarding applying to college, taking a gap year, or joining the military/workforce: If you don't know exactly what you want to do (career-wise), don't worry! Take a year to explore different things that interest you and apply to your dream school or get a head start and take your general ed classes at a community college. Make sure to stay true to yourself and follow your dreams, not anyone else's.
